AURIC (Georges) (1899–1983). French composer. Member of the Group of Six, student of Vincent d’Indy, close friend of Jean Cocteau, and composer of numerous film scores. Autograph letter: “ Georges Auric” to “Dear Sir and Friend.” London, December 14, 1957. 1 page, in-8, on Brown’s Hotel letterhead, London. Auric responds to his correspondent, who asks for his opinion on a project, which he views very favorably: “You ask me what I think of your project? There’s no need to repeat what I told you from the very first day. I think it’s excellent and hope that all my friends agree.” He concludes warmly by expressing his hope that his friends will share his enthusiasm. Letter written in blue ink on letterhead bearing the coat of arms of Brown’s Hotel, the famous London establishment. A few creases and wrinkles; slight wear on the paper.
