MICHEL-ANGE Paris, Fernand Nathan, [20th century]. Large quarto, publisher's cardboard binding with an illustrated photographic dust jacket. A major, richly illustrated monograph devoted to Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475–1564) and his entire body of work: sculpture, painting, and architecture. The book chronologically examines Michelangelo’s training and career and reproduces his major works, including the Moses, the sculptures for the Medici tombs, the Pietà, the David, the frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, and The Last Judgment. A substantial section is also devoted to his work as an architect, notably the Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome. Extensive black-and-white and color illustrations, including numerous full-page reproductions and architectural views. The dust jacket is scuffed, has scratches, and shows some minor wear along the edges and corners; there are a few scattered foxing spots inside, but the book is otherwise in good condition.
