REVUE DES ARTS ASIATIQUES - Lot 263
REVUE DES ARTS ASIATIQUES Vol. 2, No. 1 – March 1925 Paris, Librairie des Arts et Voyages, 29 Rue de Londres, March 1925. In-4°, paperback, printed cover, text illustrated and black-and-white plates. An issue of the Revue des Arts Asiatiques, published in collaboration with the French Association of Friends of the Orient. A major journal devoted to the arts and civilizations of Asia, as well as to archaeology and the history of Eastern art. This issue includes several richly illustrated studies, notably on India, China, and the relationship between the East and Christian art. The plates reproduce monuments and works of art; among those visible are: a tomb (1184), the Sanahin Monastery (Pl. II), and an 18th-century lacquered porcelain vase with a burgautée pattern (Pl. VII). There are interesting specialized advertisements at the beginning of the volume, notably for the China & India Company and for *Arts et Archéologie Khmers*, a journal founded and edited by Georges Groslier. Condition: paperback copy in its original cover. Cover is discolored and slightly faded, with creases, small tears, and marginal wear; there is a fairly significant loss in the lower left corner of the back cover. A few stains and foxing spots. The interior is nevertheless well-preserved overall, with the plates in good condition.
