BERTIN (Armand) - Lot 6
BERTIN (Armand) Paris, 1801 - 1854. French journalist and pressman. Director of Journal des Débats after Bertin l'Aîné. L.A.S. "Armand Bertin" to "Mon cher Nestor". Paris, February 26 [no year]. 1 page in-8 in black ink. Short but elegant autograph letter from Armand Bertin, an important figure in early 19th-century French journalism and heir to the famous Bertin dynasty of the Journal des Débats. In this missive of recommendation and confidence addressed to a certain "Nestor", Bertin writes: "... I will be most obliged to you for having full and complete confidence in what Anatole has told you on my behalf...". The bill concludes with a warm formula: "A thousand very sincere thanks. All yours." Interesting testimony to the relational and journalistic networks of the July Monarchy and the nascent Second Empire, signed by a major figure in the French liberal press. Well-preserved document, despite a few reading creases and slight traces of use.
