WALLON (Henri) - Lot 297
WALLON (Henri) Paris, 1879 - 1962. French psychologist and politician, specialist in child psychology. Autograph letter signed "H. Wallon", addressed to Pierre Abraham ("Mon cher ami"). S.l., November 11, 1931. 1/4 page in-8. (Two binder holes.) Interesting letter in which Henri Wallon intervenes on behalf of his correspondent, whose candidacy he supports at a forthcoming meeting of the Société de Psychologie: "If there were competitors, needless to say I would support you energetically". Secondly, he mentions his professional and personal constraints, which prevent him from going to Le Chesnay on Sunday evenings due to a concert and a heavy workload. Nevertheless, he suggests an alternative meeting in Paris, at a conference given by Pierre Abraham at the Institut d'Orientation Professionnelle, inviting him to dinner "just the two of us", in a convivial atmosphere conducive to exchanges. The final formula, full of familiarity - "No answer = accepted" - illustrates the closeness and intellectual complicity between the two men. This letter reveals Wallon's scientific networks and friendships in the early 1930s, when he was playing an active role in the institutions of French psychology.
