WALLON (Henri) - Lot 294
WALLON (Henri) Paris, 1879 - 1962. French psychologist and politician, specialist in child psychology. Typed letter signed "H. Wallon", addressed to a friend. May 11, 1928. 1 page in-8. Printed letterhead of École Pratique des Hautes Études, Laboratoire de psycho-biologie de l'enfant. (Binder holes.) Interesting working letter in which Henri Wallon outlines the preparation of a teaching program devoted to child psychology, to be taught the following year at the Institut d'Orientation Professionnelle, attached to the Direction de l'Enseignement Technique. In this context, he solicits his correspondent's collaboration for one of the ten lectures planned, specifying that this teaching aims to train future vocational guidance counselors who will be called upon to work in existing or future guidance centers in France. He concludes by suggesting a specific subject: "the morphological development of the child (its stages, its types)", revealing the importance given to the observation of growth phases in his psychological approach. This document testifies to Wallon's involvement in structuring the first vocational guidance systems in France, and to the link he established between child psychology and pedagogical applications.
