RAVIREL (Louis, baron de). - Lot 245
RAVIREL (Louis, baron de). 1806 - 1867. French lawyer and politician. Deputy for Vosges. Autograph letter signed "Baron de Ravirel". Paris, March 3, 1855. Three pages in-8. Political and personal letter. The Baron humorously introduces himself as "the fly in the ointment" to defend a friend's discovery to the Minister, whose publication he actively supports "in the form of a brochure, many of which will be addressed to him". He adds, in a more concrete and almost familiar register: "He has kept his potatoes; they are still, said the bailiff, in very good condition". A curious document combining political intervention, editorial support and domestic anecdote, revealing the relational customs and sometimes light-hearted tones of 19th-century correspondence. A pleasant piece, with lively, original content.
