PASCALI - Lot 208
PASCALI [CORSICA]. PASCALI. L.A.S. "Pascali" to Count Jean-François Dejean, Minister-Director of the War Administration. Bastia, 25 brumaire an XIV [November 16, 1805]. 2 pp. folio. Interesting autograph administrative letter, addressed from Bastia to Count Jean-François Dejean (1749-1824), Minister-Director of War Administration under the Empire. The document concerns the service of military food and supplies between Elba and Corsica at a particularly significant date, a few weeks before Austerlitz. The signatory, Pascali, informs his minister of the successful receipt of a large consignment of flour destined for the ordinary service stores on the island of Corsica: "the 110,676 kilos of wheat flour shipped from the siege supply stores on the island of Elba to the ordinary service stores on the island of Corsica have arrived at their destination in good condition". He encloses the reports recording the transfer of these flours to the Bastia stores. A very fine piece of Napoleonic military logistics, accurately illustrating food supply routes between strategic territories in the western Mediterranean at the start of the First Empire. The document features the original handwritten administrative references in the margin: "administration de la guerre", "bureau des vivres", which further enhance its archival interest. Despite a few minor accidents and marginal tears, the whole remains highly legible and beautifully presented.
