ANDRÉ-VINCENT (Philippe-Ignace). - Lot 3
ANDRÉ-VINCENT (Philippe-Ignace). Born 1911 - died 1986. French theologian and jurist. Lawyer at the Court of Appeal, former President of the Bar. Autograph letter signed "Philippe André-Vincent", addressed to "Monsieur". [Montpellier], March 28, 1937. 4 pages in-8. Interesting letter of dispatch and editorial solicitation in which André-Vincent sends a copy of his work Les idées politiques de Chateaubriand, the result of a thesis in public law defended at the University of Montpellier. He asks his correspondent to read and judge it, and explains the circumstances surrounding its publication by Librairie du Recueil Sirey. More than just an author's letter, the letter testifies to the efforts of a young jurist anxious to give his work wider distribution, evoking the possibility of a "real edition". It sheds light on the intellectual and editorial networks of the inter-war period, at a time when political thought, particularly around figures such as Chateaubriand, was arousing renewed interest. Autograph signature.
