AUGUSTE BROUET (1872-1941) "The Vegetable Merchant", Drypoint, signed lower right of etching. Final state - Print justified: 1/100 in pencil. Dimensions: 22.6 x 27.8 - Cuvette: 18.5 x 12.1 cm Condition: good Brouet left more than four hundred prints. He was influenced by Rembrandt, whose engraving technique he drew heavily on. He drew his subjects from popular circles, notably the village of Montmartre with its prostitutes, dancers, circuses, modest interiors, etc.
