G.BERTIER DE SAUVIGNY. ENIGMA OF THE CONGREGATION G. de Bertier de Sauvigny. - Le comte Ferdinand de Bertier (1782-1864) et l'énigme de la Congrégation, Paris, Presses continentales, in-8, 1948 R. P. de Bertier de Sauvigny, professor at the Institut Catholique de Paris, possessed in his family archives the papers of the Congregation that caused so much ink to flow under the Restoration. He drew on them for a remarkable thesis, which solved an old enigma by distinguishing from other similar societies, and in particular from the pious congregations of young men founded by the Jesuits, the real secret association of the Knights of the Faith, formed under the First Empire and subsequently becoming influential if not powerful.
