DAIX (André). — The Adventures of Professor Nimbus. 1934–194 - Lot 174
DAIX (André). — The Adventures of Professor Nimbus. 1934–1940. Paris, Futuropolis, 1985. Large quarto, publisher’s color-illustrated hardcover, printed spine, front cover featuring Professor Nimbus on a yellow background, back cover illustrated in color. First edition of this retrospective collection dedicated to the adventures of Professor Nimbus, bringing together the drawings and gags published between 1934 and 1940. Created in 1934 by André Daix, Professor Nimbus is one of the iconic characters of French humor comics from the interwar period. Recognizable by his bald head topped with a single strand of hair, his glasses, and his bow tie, he quickly became a major hit in the press. This volume chronicles the early years of this character, whose primarily visual humor and wordless adventures reflect the evolution of French comics in the 1930s. The volume also includes a collection of images dedicated to his creator. Published by Futuropolis, with copyright held by Opera Mundi / Agepresse. Legally deposited in June 1985. A fine copy, with a crisp hardcover showing slight signs of handling.
