MORRIS. — Outlaw. - Lot 150
MORRIS. — Outlaw. Marcinelle-Charleroi, Éditions Dupuis, 1964. In-4, softcover with publisher’s illustrations, square spine, 46 color plates. Lucky Luke Collection, No. 6. 1964 reprint of the sixth volume of the Lucky Luke adventures, originally published in 1954 by Éditions Dupuis. Text and illustrations by Morris. This volume marks one of the first appearances of the famous Dalton brothers in the Lucky Luke universe. Inspired by real-life American outlaws, Bob, Grat, Bill, and Emmett Dalton are depicted here in a more realistic style than their future cousins, Joe, William, Jack, and Averell, who would go on to become recurring characters in the series. In this adventure, Lucky Luke pursues the four Dalton brothers, responsible for numerous misdeeds in the American West. The comic book represents an important milestone in the series’ history and showcases Morris’s talent for blending historical references, humor, and Western adventures. The cover depicts Lucky Luke rushing down a ladder, while the four Dalton brothers open fire in his direction. This dynamic composition is characteristic of Morris’s early covers. Condition: Good copy. The cover’s colors are well-preserved, with some scuffing and signs of wear, particularly along the spine and at the corners. The back cover is slightly scuffed. The interior is slightly yellowed, with no major apparent defects.
