MORRIS and GOSCINNY (René). — Lucky Luke. The Caravan. - Lot 141
MORRIS and GOSCINNY (René). — Lucky Luke. The Caravan. Marcinelle-Charleroi, Éditions Dupuis, 1967. In-4, softcover with publisher’s illustrations, square spine, 46 color plates. Lucky Luke Collection, No. 24. First edition in album format of this Lucky Luke adventure, illustrated by Morris based on a story by René Goscinny. In this episode, Lucky Luke is tasked with escorting a caravan of pioneers across the vast expanses of the American West. Led by characters as colorful as they are unpredictable, the convoy must face the hardships of the journey, the dangers of the trail, and the many incidents caused by its own members. Originally published in the magazine *Spirou*, *La Caravane* is part of the golden age of collaboration between Morris and René Goscinny. In it, the authors humorously revisit one of the classic themes of the Western genre—the conquest of the West and the pioneers’ long migrations—filling the story with comical situations and colorful characters. The cover features a predominantly yellow illustration depicting Lucky Luke, riding Jolly Jumper, facing a stagecoach driver wielding his whip, while the caravan’s wagons appear in the background. Condition: A good copy showing some signs of wear, slight rubbing, and small marks on the edges and corners. The interior is slightly yellowed with a few scattered foxing spots. The cover retains its vibrant colors.
