HÉDOUIN (Pierre) (1789–1868). Born in Boulogne-sur-Mer. Lawy - Lot 212
HÉDOUIN (Pierre) (1789–1868). Born in Boulogne-sur-Mer. Lawyer, man of letters, and musician. Author of novels, songs, and poetry. P.A.S. “Pierre Hédouin,” addressed to a friend. No place, no date. 2 pages, in-4. A CHARMING AUTOGRAPH POEM DEDICATED TO FRIENDSHIP, LOYALTY, AND ROMANTIC FEELINGS. Pierre Hédouin composed a poem celebrating feelings of affection and friendship. Written in a steady hand, the text offers a reflection on the sincerity of the heart and the constancy of feelings. “You were the first to introduce me to these sweet yet profound sensations, which are the joy of my life!” The poet continues: “From your lips I drew, for the first time, all the delights, all the pleasures of love!” In the rest of the text, Hédouin evokes the tributes of friendship, esteem, and tenderness—feelings he presents as the foundations of human relationships. The piece is signed “Pierre Hédouin.” A BEAUTIFUL TESTAMENT TO THE ROMANTIC SENSIBILITY OF A MAN OF LETTERS FROM THE FIRST HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY. The paper shows old creases, a few foxing spots, and a circular tear in the center of the page, resulting in a loss of text.
