GANNE (Louis) (1862–1923), French composer and conductor, be - Lot 171
GANNE (Louis) (1862–1923), French composer and conductor, best known for the operettas *Les Saltimbanques* and *La Mascotte*. Autograph letter signed “Louis Ganne” to a friend. No place, no date. 2 pages, in-8 format, on laid paper. A friendly letter in which Louis Ganne mentions an invitation and the difficulties he faces in coordinating his commitments. “If the dress rehearsal takes place on Tuesday… He won’t be able to go… Because I have to go to dinner in Le Vésinet that evening!” The composer humorously explains that he has already had to reschedule his commitments several times: “I will be with you wholeheartedly. Needless to say, I’m hoping Samuel will postpone his dress rehearsal by 24 hours! ” This correspondence attests to the friendly and professional relationships Louis Ganne maintained with the Parisian theater and entertainment world in the early 20th century. Ruled paper showing some slight signs of wear.
