Dubois” to a friend. Paris, January 5, 1883. 1 page, in-12 format. Letter regarding the organization of exams at the Paris Conservatory. Théodore Dubois informs his correspondent that he will be unable to teach his class due to a family obligation and asks him to pass this information on to the students in his class: “I am forced to leave, as my grandfather is on his deathbed. I will not be able to teach my class tomorrow or be present for Monday’s exam.” He then asks him: “Neatly copy out your lessons and report to the exam at the time indicated on the bulletin board at the Conservatory. ” This letter provides insight into daily life at the Paris Conservatory and the organization of classes and exams in the late 19th century, when Théodore Dubois was teaching harmony there. The paper has a few creases and slight signs of wear.
