DUBOIS (Théodore) (1837–1924), French composer, organist, an - Lot 124
DUBOIS (Théodore) (1837–1924), French composer, organist, and educator; director of the Paris Conservatory from 1896 to 1905. Autograph letter signed “Th. Dubois” to a friend. Rosnay (Marne), June 9, 1909. 1 page, in-12 format, accompanied by an envelope bearing the letterhead of the music magazine *Le Diapason*, 70 Avenue Kléber, Paris. An interesting letter concerning Joseph-Henry Roujon, a high-ranking civil servant and member of the Academy of Fine Arts. “Here is a note from Roujon. Perhaps you should pay him a quick visit. Is there any news? What have you been up to? What do you know?” Théodore Dubois thus passes on to his correspondent a message from Joseph-Henry Roujon (1853–1914), who served as permanent secretary of the Académie des Beaux-Arts beginning in 1903. This correspondence attests to Dubois’s connections with Parisian academic and institutional circles, as well as his involvement in the endeavors of his colleagues. Attached envelope bearing the illustrated letterhead of the magazine *Le Diapason*, with an old annotation reading “Théodore Dubois (1909).”
