DUBOIS (Théodore) (1837–1924) - Lot 110
DUBOIS (Théodore) (1837–1924) French composer, organist, and educator; director of the Paris Conservatory from 1896 to 1905. Autograph letter signed “Th. Dubois,” addressed to a friend. No place, July 8, 1917. 1 p. in-12, in black ink. A friendly letter regarding a legal matter. The composer sends his correspondent several documents from a lawsuit, which he asks him to kindly return: “Here are the documents from the lawsuit. Perhaps you were unable to obtain them. Please be so kind as to return them to me.” He concludes with a few affectionate words for his correspondent and his family: “Our warmest regards to both of you. And your dear little one—how is he doing?” A glimpse into the composer’s private correspondence during the final years of his life. Center fold, slight signs of handling.
