D'INDY (Vincent) (1851–1931) - Lot 74
D'INDY (Vincent) (1851–1931) French composer and educator, co-founder of the Schola Cantorum. Autograph letter signed “Vincent d’Indy,” addressed to Narcisse Brument, conductor and librettist. No place or date [Tuesday morning]. 1 p. in-12, in black ink, on mourning paper with a black border. Letter regarding invitations to a musical performance. Vincent d'Indy thanks his correspondent for his kindness and expresses his dissatisfaction with the poor organization of the seats he had reserved: “I had Carvalho make the reservation for you, but there was so much confusion regarding these seats—both for the performance and the premiere—that I’m not surprised your seat was given away, even though I had warned them. ” He regrets not yet having received a reply to his letters and concludes by expressing his friendly regards. This letter attests to the relationships Vincent d’Indy maintained with theater directors and prominent figures in the Parisian music world. Center fold; some slight signs of handling.
