D'INDY (Vincent) (1851–1931) - Lot 73
D'INDY (Vincent) (1851–1931) French composer and educator, a student of César Franck and co-founder of the Schola Cantorum in Paris. Autograph letter signed “Vincent d’Indy,” addressed to a correspondent. No place, October 30, 1912. 1 p. in-16, in black ink. In this letter, Vincent d’Indy responds to a request for tickets to a premiere and expresses his regret at being unable to accommodate his correspondent. The composer explains that the few tickets he had available have already been distributed and that, unfortunately, he is no longer able to grant any new invitations: “Alas, you are too late. The few seats I had available have already been distributed, and since the dress rehearsal is a paid event, no one will be admitted without a ticket, and a card would be of no use to you. ” He concludes by apologizing for this inability to accommodate the request and expressing his sympathy. A testament to the relationships Vincent d’Indy maintained with Parisian musical and social circles in the early 20th century. Some slight signs of folding and handling.
