CHIROL (Pierre) (1881–1953). French architect. President of - Lot 52
CHIROL (Pierre) (1881–1953). French architect. President of the Society of Architects of Seine-Inférieure and Eure. Professor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Rouen. Autograph letter signed “Pierre Chirol,” on letterhead from his architectural firm “Pierre Chirol – André Viviès, Architects,” addressed to an unidentified correspondent. Rouen, February 28, 1922. 2 pages, in-12 format. Pierre Chirol warmly thanks his correspondent for purchasing the engravings and for the kindness with which he informed him of the purchase. He hopes to retrieve them quickly so he can have them framed: “I thank you twice over—both for purchasing the engravings and for letting me know in such a kind manner.” He outlines the practical arrangements for picking them up, offering to pick them up at his brother-in-law’s home at 5 Avenue de l’Observatoire in Paris. This letter attests to the artistic interests of Pierre Chirol, an architect who was particularly active in Rouen, where his notable works include the monument in memory of Georges Dubosc, the Palais des Consuls, the Post Office, and the renovation of the Ursuline convent. Letterhead printed by his firm, located at 49 Boulevard des Belges in Rouen. A few crease marks and slight signs of wear.
