SALÉ (Marie-Pierre). — Odilon Redon. - Lot 226
SALÉ (Marie-Pierre). — Odilon Redon. Paris, Musée d'Orsay, Éditions 5 Continents, n.d. A square in-4 volume, paperback, with a color-illustrated cover. “Galerie d'arts graphiques” series, no. 5. A catalog devoted to the graphic works of Odilon Redon (1840–1916), compiled by Marie-Pierre Salé, curator at the Musée d’Orsay. The book presents the artist’s drawings held in the Musée d’Orsay’s collections, notably those from his studio archive. It explores the uniqueness of his graphic work, ranging from the famous “noirs,” charcoal drawings, and lithographs to his experimental works in which Symbolist imagination confronts the observation of nature and the study of the old masters. The book includes numerous black-and-white and color reproductions, among them *Tête d’homme et masque*. An interesting study of one of the major figures of French Symbolism. A fine copy.
