LEBEER (Louis). — James Ensor, Etcher. Antwerp, De Sikkel, for the Ministry of Public Instruction, n.d. Quarto, burgundy half-cloth binding by the publisher, marbled paper covers, title in gold lettering on the front cover. Publication part of the “Monographies de l’art belge” series. A major study devoted to the engraved works of James Ensor (1860–1949), with a particular focus on his etchings. Illustrated with a photographic portrait of the artist as a frontispiece and numerous reproductions of his etchings, including *View of Nieuwpoort*. The book highlights the essential role of printmaking in Ensor’s oeuvre, his penchant for satire, the fantastic, and visionary compositions, as well as the freedom of his graphic language. A few foxing spots, mainly on the first few pages. Binding well preserved.
