PAUL KLEE — AT THE SOURCES OF PAINTING - Lot 239
PAUL KLEE — AT THE SOURCES OF PAINTING ROY (Claude). Paul Klee at the Sources of Painting. Paris, Le Club Français du Livre, 1963. Large quarto, publisher’s black cloth binding, front cover adorned with a composition reproducing one of Klee’s graphic designs. Numerous color and black-and-white reproductions, several of which are full-page. A fine monograph by Claude Roy devoted to Paul Klee, exploring the sources of his pictorial language, his drawing, color, the use of line, and the relationship between figuration and abstraction. A particularly well-crafted and richly illustrated edition, characteristic of the major art publications by the Club Français du Livre in the early 1960s. Some scuffing and marks on the black cloth binding; interior in fresh condition.
