Large quarto, publisher’s cream cloth, title “Rembrandt” in gold lettering on the front cover. An important monograph by Ludwig Münz, then director of the Akademische Gemäldegalerie in Vienna, devoted to Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn. Extensive black-and-white and color illustrations, including numerous full-page reproductions of Rembrandt’s paintings, drawings, and engravings. The study traces the artist’s development, from his early years in Leiden to the major works of his maturity, with a significant focus on self-portraits and his graphic work. Binding is slightly pitted, mainly on the covers; interior is in good condition. No dust jacket.
