GEFFROY (Gustave). The Museums of Europe. Berlin. Kaiser Friedrich Museum. Paris, Éditions Nilsson, [circa 1925–1930]. In-4, paperback, illustrated cover printed in brown, cover illustration by Louis Anquetin. A study by Gustave Geffroy, a member of the Académie Goncourt, devoted to the collections of the Kaiser Friedrich Museum in Berlin, now the Bode Museum. The author presents the major schools represented in the Berlin collections and discusses the great European masters, notably the Flemish, Dutch, and Italian schools. The book is listed as containing 42 plates and 108 illustrations in the text. Numerous photographic reproductions of works by Van Eyck, Rembrandt, Ruysdael, and masters of the major European schools. An interesting publication from the “Les Musées d’Europe” series, with a cover designed by Louis Anquetin. Cover is faded, scuffed, and slightly damaged along the edges and spine; small tears and missing sections; interior in generally good condition.
