HENRIOT DE LANGLE - Lot 137
HENRIOT DE LANGLE Oath taken before the Ambassador of the French Republic in London. Bath, August 12 [late 18th century]. A handwritten document signed by Delphine Henriot de Langle and Eugénie Henriot de Langle, declaring their intention to return to the territory of the French Republic by virtue of an amnesty granted for emigration. The signatories take the following oath before the Ambassador of the Republic: “to be loyal to the Government established by the Constitution and to maintain no direct or indirect contact or correspondence with the enemies of the State.” A particularly interesting document for the history of French emigration to England during the Revolution. Center fold, slight foxing, and minor marginal wear.
