Large quarto, paperback; cover illustrated with a photograph of Georges Braque’s *Les Mains*, 1957. Numerous black-and-white photographic reproductions. Texts by Pontus Hulten and Jean-Claude Lemagny, among others. CATALOG OF THE MAJOR PAUL STRAND RETROSPECTIVE PRESENTED IN PARIS IN 1977, an exhibition held at the Galeries Contemporaines of the Centre Pompidou from June 15 to August 15, 1977. The Centre Pompidou notes that the selection was drawn from the retrospective *Paul Strand Photographs*, organized in 1971 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art by Michael E. Hoffman. A very fine collection of photographs spanning Strand’s various periods: abstraction, portraits, landscapes, and works created in the United States, Mexico, Egypt, and Europe, notably including his famous frontal portraits. Condition: shows signs of use. Cover is slightly soiled, scuffed, and yellowed, with small creases and marginal marks; there is a handwritten price label on the front cover. Interior is in good condition.
