French edition of *Erotic Art of the Masters: The 18th, 19th & 20th Centuries*, a work by Bradley Smith originally published in the United States in 1974; the original American edition has 207 pages and already includes Henry Miller’s introduction. A major, richly illustrated anthology devoted to eroticism in the art of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Bradley Smith brings together both the European masters—Boucher, Fragonard, Ingres, Courbet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Picasso—as well as modern and contemporary artists, notably Chagall, Masson, Magritte, Dalí, Bellmer, George Grosz, Warhol, and Wesselmann, and also broadens his scope to include Japanese and Eastern erotic traditions. An added attraction of the book is the foreword by Henry Miller, whose archives show that he was directly involved in the project’s preparation, researching information on collections of erotic art as early as the 1970s. Red hardcover without dust jacket, with some scuffing, small scratches, and signs of wear, mainly on the covers and spines; corners slightly scuffed. Gilding on the spine still clear. Interior clean and fresh overall. A good copy, but missing its illustrated dust jacket, which normally accompanied this edition.
