Text by Paul Morand accompanied by extensive black-and-white photographic documentation. The colophon specifies a limited edition of 200 copies on Arches paper, numbered 1 through 200; this is a copy from the regular print run. A beautiful volume characteristic of the photographic and editorial output of the early 1930s. Morand describes the route from Paris to the Midi and the Côte d’Azur — Lyon, the Rhône Valley, Provence, Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Marseille — by juxtaposing his text with modern photographic documentation. Several photographers and agencies are credited throughout the volume. Condition: shows signs of use. Cover is scuffed and soiled; edges and corners are worn with small losses; there is a significant crease on the back cover. A few creases and minor distortions; scattered foxing and stains inside, particularly in the margins. Nevertheless, this is a complete and interesting copy in its original cover.
