Fritz Gruber Collection. The museum’s photography collection ranks among the major institutional collections dedicated to modern photography. The book is organized by photographer and combines biographical entries with reproductions of works. It features both leading figures in historical and documentary photography and those in contemporary photography: Brassaï, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Man Ray, August Sander, Robert Capa, Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Cindy Sherman, Helmut Newton, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, and others. The photographed copy notably features a two-page spread dedicated to Brassaï, with *L’Amour au bal* (1932) and *La prostituée Bijou au Bar de la Lune, Montmartre, Paris* (1933), as well as a profile on Philip-Lorca diCorcia. This is the abridged version of the Museum Ludwig’s major publication: the expanded edition comprises approximately 760 pages and over 850 works, whereas this “Icons” edition offers a much more compact selection. A good copy. The hardcover retains the large original “Taschen for Maxi-Books” sticker on the front cover—an interesting marketing feature, though it does not really add any bibliophilic value. Some scuffing and minor signs of wear on the hardcover; corners are slightly scuffed. Interior is clean and fresh.
