French first edition of *Lee Miller's War*, originally published in London by Condé Nast Books / John Murray in 1992. The book brings together the photographs and reports produced by Lee Miller for *Vogue* during the final two years of World War II. A former Vogue model who was close to Man Ray and the pre-war Surrealists, Lee Miller (1907–1977) obtained accreditation as a war correspondent with the U.S. forces. She followed their advance across Europe and photographed, among other events, the siege of Saint-Malo, the Liberation of Paris, the campaign in Alsace, Germany, and the discovery of the concentration camps. Her photographs are accompanied by her own texts and correspondence, which constitute an essential part of her body of work. The BnF, in fact, classifies the book among personal accounts related to World War II. The book features approximately 200 photographs from the Lee Miller Archives, including many previously unpublished images. The double-page spreads of photographs, such as the one depicting the bombing of Saint-Malo visible in your copy, give this edition the true quality of a photography book. Condition: good copy. Hardcover and interior are well-preserved; dust jacket is present, with some scuffing and minor signs of wear, particularly on the top and bottom edges and the corners, but no significant damage.
