First edition. One of André Kertész’s earliest photography books, published in Paris shortly before his departure for the United States. Following *Enfants* (1933), Kertész devotes a series of sixty photographs here to the animal world: horses, cattle, dogs, cats, poultry, and farm animals. The text is by Jaboune, the pseudonym of Jean Nohain. The book is now highly sought after among Kertész’s early photographic monographs. Bibliographic references confirm the 1936 Paris edition, the 60 photographs, and their heliogravure printing. Copy in its original illustrated paperback binding. Cover is quite worn: spine rubbed with small losses and tears, edges and corners worn, a few creases and marks; inner front cover marked. The interior shows scattered foxing, particularly visible on the first few pages, but the photographs remain well-contrasted. A few small marks and marginal creases. Fair condition, but the book is complete and in its original binding.
