A substantial collection of black-and-white photographs by Françoise Huguier, reproduced as full-page and double-page spreads. A beautiful photographic monograph dedicated to Françoise Huguier’s travels in Burkina Faso and Mali. The photographer adopts an intimate approach: entering homes and bedrooms, meeting with women, and capturing portraits and interior scenes from close up. The book represents a personal project by Huguier, very different from her commissioned photojournalism. The photographs make strong use of blacks, interior lighting, silhouettes, and domestic spaces. The photographer’s text complements this approach, with a foreword by filmmaker Claire Denis.
