In-12, publisher’s softcover bound in full reddish-brown leather, spine decorated with gilt fillets and gilt title. Volume No. 63 of the Bibliothèque de la Pléiade. Printed on May 24, 1942, at the Imprimerie Union in Paris. An early edition of the Pléiade series, published in the midst of the war, bringing together Goethe’s plays with an introduction by André Gide. The binding shows scuffing and signs of wear; the corners are slightly rounded; no dust jacket, Rhodoid, or slipcase visible.
