First edition of this introductory work on the history of photography, covering everything from Nicéphore Niépce’s early experiments to the major developments in the medium during the 20th century. The bibliographic details match: Scala, 2001, 127 pages, format approximately 20.5 × 16.5 cm. The book is organized around twelve representative works or photographers, chosen to illustrate the major transformations brought about by photography: portraiture, landscape, nude, photojournalism, fashion, advertising, and the relationship between photography and the fine arts. Most notably, the lower part of the back cover has several fairly pronounced creases, as well as small superficial marks. Nevertheless, the copy is clean and sturdy.
