VERLAINE (Paul). *Fêtes galantes*. Paris, H. Piazza, 1928. In-4, paperback, cover lined with cream-colored paper and illustrated in color on both sides, under tissue paper. An edition illustrated by George Barbier, published by H. Piazza in 1928. It was intended to feature a substantial collection of the artist’s color illustrations. One of 800 copies on pure-fiber Rives vellum, numbered from 226 to 1025; this copy is no. 329. This copy retains the beautiful cover illustrated in color by George Barbier as well as the decorated title page, but all the color color plates have been removed. The volume therefore appears as a very incomplete copy of this famous illustrated edition. Original stitching. Cover is worn, with stains, scuff marks, creases, and small marginal tears; some foxing. Stitching is fragile. Incomplete copy, sold as is.
