A lovely illustrated edition of the second volume of Jules Vallès’s autobiographical trilogy, the ninth volume in the “Les Beaux Livres” collection published by Mornay. It is adorned with numerous woodcuts by Henri Barthélemy, including a two-tone frontispiece, as well as numerous illustrations within the text, running heads, end-of-page illustrations, and initials printed in red and black. Limited edition of 1,034 numbered copies, including 961 copies on Rives paper. Copy in its original publisher’s binding, which is particularly decorative and well-preserved. A few slight marks and stains on the cover; spine slightly faded; minor rubbing and very slight imperfections on the cap edges and corners. Interior in apparently good condition.
