Large 8vo, paperback, cover lined with white fiber-paper, title printed in red and black, publisher’s cardboard slipcase covered with the same paper, decorated with green and gray floral motifs. LVI-76 pp., untrimmed. First edition of *La Jeune Parque* accompanied by Alain’s commentary, including Valéry’s previously unpublished introductory text, *Le Philosophe et la Jeune Parque*. The book was published on January 30, 1936. Deluxe edition printed on various papers: 15 copies on China paper, 25 on cream-colored Holland paper, 50 on Montval paper, and 1,010 copies on white Arches laid paper, numbered from 51 to 1,060. This copy, No. 683, is printed on white Arches laid paper. The copy includes an autographed dedication on the first blank page. A beautiful copy preserved in its original, decorated slipcase, which is particularly attractive; a few slight marks and signs of wear on the slipcase, minor wear at the edges, and the volume is in fresh condition.
