Narrow 8vo, loose-leaf, with a color-illustrated half-cloth cover, in the publisher’s cardboard slipcase covered with white paper. First edition, printing completed on October 30, 1946, on special Japanese paper. Preface by Professor Pasteur Vallery-Radot of the Académie française; text by Bernard Simiot. A significant collection of 70 watercolors by Siss, painter to the Armed Forces, depicting portraits of military leaders and scenes from the 1944–1945 campaign. The insignia of the major units were reproduced by Robert Louis. Notably included are color portraits of General de Gaulle and General Kœnig, as well as numerous French and Allied officers and scenes captured on the spot during operations in Western Europe. , A fine copy, complete with its original slipcase, which shows some scuffing and soiling; the cover and interior are well-preserved.
