In-8, paperback, embossed cover printed in red and black, XX-298 pp. A beautiful edition illustrated with two-color woodcuts by Fernand Siméon, including a frontispiece and numerous illustrations at the beginning of the short stories. The BnF confirms this 1925 edition, published by Jonquières in the “Les Beaux Romans” collection. Printed in a run of 1,050 numbered copies: 40 on Marais vellum, 60 on white Rives laid paper, and 950 on pure-thread vellum, plus 15 copies on Madagascar Lafuma paper. One of the 950 copies on pure-thread vellum, no. 147. Copy preserved in its original publisher’s binding, with a label from the R. Anacréon bookstore, 22 rue de Seine, inside the flap. Cover slightly discolored on the spine and margins, a few minor creases and signs of wear; interior well preserved.
