Large quarto, loose-leaf, with a printed filled-in cover, cream-colored hardcover slipcase and jacket from the publisher. A beautiful bibliophile edition of Charles Perrault’s famous tales, illustrated with original woodcuts by Charles-Émile Pinson, appearing both within the text and as full-page plates. It includes, notably, *The Patience of Griselidis*, *Donkey Skin*, *The Ridiculous Wishes*, *Sleeping Beauty*, *Little Red Riding Hood*, *Bluebeard*, *Puss in Boots*, *The Fairies*, *Cinderella*, *Riquet with the Tuft*, and *Tom Thumb*. The printing is of exceptional quality, set in 12-point Romain Cochin type and printed on BFK pure rag paper from the Papeteries de Rives. Pinson’s woodcuts, deliberately simple and stylized in design, accompany the text with numerous original compositions. Limited edition of 3,333 numbered copies. The book was completed on November 15, 1951, by E. Baudelot in Paris. Copies from this edition were frequently personalized. Based on the photographs, this is a very fine copy, perfectly preserved in its original slipcase and case, which are themselves remarkably fresh.
