Venetian edition of *Les Provinciales*, published by Mario Fantoni in Venice. The book catalogs that have been found do indeed list 1945 as the year of publication for this edition. An elegant typographic publication, printed on laid paper, with a simple cover featuring flaps. The volume includes the eighteen *Lettres provinciales* as well as a fragment of a nineteenth letter addressed to Father Annat. This copy bears the notation “XVII” on the spine, which appears to correspond to the collection or series designation. Condition: a fine paperback copy. The cover is slightly faded and shows a few small marks and stains; there is minor scuffing on the top and bottom edges and along the folds of the flaps. The spine remains sturdy. The interior is clean, with slightly yellowed paper and no significant visible foxing. A pleasant copy in its original binding.
