Small in-16 paperback, color-illustrated cover featuring the tricolor flag, 383 pp. A work devoted in particular to the Italian War of 1859, lavishly illustrated with woodcuts depicting military scenes and portraits. Complete copies are described as including a frontispiece and 14 separate engravings; this copy should be checked for these. A curious popular work from the Second Empire, in its rare original illustrated paperback binding, which is particularly decorative and fragile. Copy in its original published condition. Cover is stained and scuffed, with creases, small tears, and missing corners; spine is creased with wear on the cap bands. Some foxing and signs of wear inside. Nevertheless, a sturdy and attractive copy, preserved in its original binding.
