Small 12mo, full brown morocco, ribbed spine, gilt title, covers and panels very richly embossed and gilt, green moiré linings, gilt initials “P.B.” and date “May 28, 1914” on the lining. Edges likely gilt; silk bookmarks. An elegant illustrated missal, printed by Mame, featuring religious compositions and decorative borders. The binding is significantly more interesting than that of a standard missal: fine morocco leatherwork, a highly intricate design on the covers, silk and moiré linings, and a personalization dated 1914. Some scuffing and signs of wear, but an attractive set overall.
