MILLER (Henry). — Le Monde du sexe. The World of Sex. Paris: Corrêa, “Le Chemin de la Vie” series, edited by Maurice Nadeau, 1952. In-12, 193 pp., paperback, original illustrated cover in yellow, gray, and blue, title in black; printed spine. French first edition of *The World of Sex*, an essay written by Henry Miller in 1940 and first published in French in this 1952 Corrêa edition. One of the texts in which Miller most directly articulates his conception of sexuality, viewed less as an erotic subject than as a vital force and a principle of individual liberation, thus extending the themes found in *Tropic of Cancer* and *Tropic of Capricorn*. The cover, particularly characteristic of the collection edited by Maurice Nadeau, features a large, stylized female silhouette on a yellow background, crisscrossed by blue lines. The first edition is limited to 350 numbered copies: 50 copies on Arches paper, numbered 1 through 50, and 300 copies on Alfa du Marais paper, numbered 51 through 350. Copy from the regular print run A fine copy preserved in its attractive original cover, which is an important feature for this title. The cover is slightly faded and soiled, with a few small marks and scuffs; the spine is slightly yellowed, and the head and foot caps are slightly scuffed. The interior shows the natural yellowing of the paper but is clean overall.
