First edition of this work devoted to the Périgord—its history, monuments, traditions, and inhabitants—by Jean Maubourguet, a historian and scholar from the Périgord. The book is richly illustrated with photographs and documents reproduced in heliogravure, featuring numerous views of castles and monuments in the Périgord: La Filolie in Saint-Amand-de-Coly, La Marthonie in Saint-Jean-de-Côle, Puyguilhem in Villars, Caussade in Trélissac, etc. Printed on November 28, 1941, by Lang, Blanchong & Cie in Paris; heliogravures by Les Fils de Victor Michel. An interesting copy preserved with several contemporary newspaper clippings related to the book and its author, including articles devoted to *Choses et gens du Périgord* and the “Lettres périgourdines,” several of which bear handwritten annotations and dates from 1941. This collection constitutes an interesting small documentary dossier on the book’s reception upon its publication. Uncut or largely uncut copy. Cover slightly discolored, with a few small marks, creases, and signs of wear; interior well-preserved overall.
