LOUŸS (Pierre). *La Femme et le Pantin*. Paris: Union Latine d'Éditions, 1934. In-8, 166 pp. Illustrations by Mariette Lydis, both in the text and as plates, some in color, reproduced in facsimile by Daniel Jacomet. This edition is part of the series *Romans et Nouvelles de Pierre Louÿs* published by Union Latine d’Éditions. The BnF provides a detailed description of this 1934 edition and notes that it comprises 167 pages according to its cataloging. The print run was limited to 5,160 copies, including 5,000 numbered copies on chiffon vellum for Union Latine d’Éditions and 160 non-commercial copies for Fasquelle. One of the 5,000 on chiffon vellum, no. 730. Beautiful sea-green half-shagreen binding with corner caps, four-ribbed spine, author’s name and title gilt, covers of marbled paper in shades of gray and green, gilt head. A fine copy; the interior is fresh overall. The binding shows some scuffing and minor signs of wear, particularly on the headbands and corners. The spine has faded. A sought-after edition, especially for the illustrations by Mariette Lydis, which are particularly striking in this volume, featuring several sensual female figures in color.
