Copy no. 307. *Matelot*, originally published in 1893, is part of Pierre Loti’s cycle of great maritime novels. The story follows Jean Berny, a young man who, after failing to graduate from the Naval Academy, chooses the life of a sailor despite his family’s opposition. A fine paperback copy, untrimmed, preserved in its original dust jacket. Some foxing, mainly on the spine, and slight signs of wear on the cover; interior is fresh.
